Song Review: Grenade

There are many artists that have one, maybe two songs that I really like by them, if it's Ke$ha(We R Who We R) or Katy Perry(Teenage Dream). This songs falls in that sort of catagory. Bruno Mars is certainly a minority right now, with the majority of pop music being sung by females or really REALLY male rappers, he fits in the catagory of male singer, next to Justin Beiber. Mr Mars, you don't want to be seen next to this...boy. You certainly can write better songs then him, but that's not saying much. You look older and sound better then him, again not saying much. You need to work on your songwriting craft, but luckily, you have more years on you then Justin Beiber and you you look more natural in the role then he does. This song is the one that won me over, Mr. Mars. It's catchy, sounds good, and deserves the radio play that it's getting. Still, you have a long way to go. "Billionaire, Nothin on You, Just the Way You Are", you need to leave those songs behind if you want to be remembered more then a footnote on the Billboard Hot 100. Like Katy Perry, you both have the talent and the material that you could go beyond your singer image and really breakout, and not fade away. I know this is less about Grenade then Mars, but I thought this was a good song for him. He just needs to go beyond the standard he set. Write a real love song that will rank among the greatest of all time. You have the age, experience and ability to do it.
